Declan Galbraith

Declan Galbraith is an English singer of Scottish and Irish origin. He was born in 1991 in Kent and live with his family in Hoo, a village near Rochester, Kent. His grandfather had a band and played several instruments which inspired Declan to become a musician.

His first appearance in public was at the age of 7 which shows that he had this ability since he was a boy. It was soon after this, when he started entering local talent shows and within a year he had won 15 competitions and more than £1000.

Nowadays, Declan Galbraith is known for the control of his voice, as well as his ability to interpret. Moreover, his youth make him more special as there are not many singers of his age able to sing as well as him.

About his personality: he is not shy at all. Many young people (who doesn't know anything about music) says that he sings like a girl but he has never been affected by this type of comments because people who know a minimum of music realised since the first moment they listen to him that he sings like an angel.
Declan loves Elvis Presley and Elton John. All this means one important thing about Declan’s personality which is that he sings many known songs because of his admiration for those singers.

He has done, as I said before, many different versions of famous songs and singers like for example : " Tears in heaven" by Eric Clapton, "Nights in white satin" by The Moody Blues, "An angel" sung by the Kelly Family (one of his favourite songs which was included in his first album "Thank you") and so on.

He has recently started learning to play the piano and guitar, and writing his own songs like "You and me" which is a bit different from the others because it combines country and gives it a more modern sound and Declan didn't use to sing this kind of music so he was very pleased with this new album.

I think I've written the most important things to know a bit more about Declan Galbraith.

Declan Galbraith is not very known in Spain but personally, I think he sings wonderfully and recommend everybody to listen to him.
In this video (and others), Declan shows the way he feels the music which makes us deduce that he is a very sensitive and delicate boy or seems to be.
In my opinion, he is a very good artist who deserves to succeed in his career as a singer but even if doesn’t succeed now, he has a long way ahead because he’s only 16 years so I’m sure he will succeed one day or another.

Extreme is an american rock band that achieved popularity in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Their influences are easily apparent from their music's multi-part vocal harmonies and electric guitar tone and instrumental techniques. The band lends the listener a sound that blends the genre of glam metal with the shredding guitar work from thrash metal. Being asked about their style, Extreme categorized their music as 'Funky Metal'.

One of his vocalist is Gary Cherone and the guitarist is Nuno Bettencourt. They two began writing songs together and played numerous shows in the Boston area. The begining was pretty difficult for them, but soon they began to be a famous rock group.

Cherone grew up in Malden. He raised in a middle-class Catholic family, Cherone was quiet, creative, and athletic. As a youth he dreamed of a career as a basketball player until he suffered a serious knee injury.In his teenage years Cherone turned to singing in local bands and was heavily influenced by the reigning rock frontmen of the day.

A few years later, Cherone and The Dream appeared on the early MTV program Basement Tapes, a show in which the viewing audience "voted" for one of two competing amateur music videos submitted by unsigned artists.

After several broadcast the group was no longer anonymous.
In 1985 began writing their own material.Although well received by the rock press,the acoustic ballad "More Than Words" inrose up in the early spring of 1991.That ballad is his famous song, and in my opinion is so moving

Norma Jeane Mortenson was born on the 1st June 1926. Her mother was Gladys Monroe Baker and as she didn't know who was her father she took her mother's surname.

When she was just 6 weeks old she had been adopted by a lot of different families. Bu finally, when she was 7 years old, her mother bought a house and recovered her custody. Unfortunately, one year later Gladys was taken into a psychiatric because of a hereditary mental disease. That's the reason why Norma was again brought up by a different family and soon she was finally taken to an orphanage or children's home.

At the age of 16, she married James E. Dougherty so that she could have a stable family. During her life, she got married and split up several times: the photographer André de Dienes, the director Elia Kazan, the baseball player Joe Di Maggio, the writter Arthur Miller who wrote the script of "The Misfits"...

In 1945 a photographer made a documentary about the work of women during the war. Then, the magazine "yank" asked her to pose and not much later she joined "Blue Book" model Agency. The she dyed her hair to a brighter colour.

In 1953 she appeared on the first cover of the first magazine of Playboy. In 1960 she was awarded with the Globe Award and one year later she was taken to a mental asylum because she had a nervous break down.

Finally, on the 5th August 1962 an ambulance stopped in front of her house at 9 o'clock in the evening and they took out her dead body at 3 o'clock in the morning. Some people say she died of an overdose and other because she was poisoned, but her death is still a mystery.

As you have already seen the video and that you have found that the lyrics of the song are comprehensible, I'm not going to explain anything about them.

But in the same video we can see how Marilyn wasn't only an actress; she was also a beloved singer. At the same time, this video shows that Marilyn always wore very attractive and really expensive clothes. Therefore, we can understand that she was very worried about her appearance and that she tried to look perfect.
Moreover, that dress she is wearing in the video was sold at an auction in 1999 for 1.26 million dollars, a world record. Because of that special day, we can also deduce that she loved standing in front of people and making them applauds. Possibly, that would have given her the satisfaction she was looking for. That was pretty difficult because of her controversial behaviour, and that's why I'm not going to get deep into this business.

Pierre Bouvier was born in Qebec (9 may 1979). he is very known because he is the lead-singer of a Canadian music group called "Simple Plan".
this band was formed in 1999, by Piere Bouvier, Chuck Comeau, David Desrosiers, Sebastian Lefevre and Jeff Stinco.
Before this band, Pierre played for anothe one, called Reset. that one was only formed by him and Chuck Comeau, who was also a schoolmate.
But they had some problems, and Chuck left the band, so Pierre was alone. Some years after, they meet each other casually, at a rock show, and they decided to form another band, but in this case, with more school friends, such as Sebastian and Jeff. But needed another singer, so they offered David to add to the band, and he accepted.

Nowadays Pierre lives in Qebec, and his wife is Lachelle Farrar and he's now going to be father for first time.
He has four dogs (I don't know their names), and a fish.
He's fauvorite sport is the footbal, but he also like practising basketball, surf or skateboarding.
and he's fauvorite music groups are: good charlotte, blink-182, new found glory, beach boys and BSB.

This is everything I know about this guy. I also would like to say that he's my fauvorite singer, and that his band (simple plan) is my fauvorite band, and twoo weeks ago they gave a concert here in Bilbao, and I was there. It was just unbelievable.

Rafael Nadal was born in Manacor (Mallorca) in 1986. His father is Sebastian Nadal and his mother is Ana Maria Parera. He also has a young sister named Maria Isabel Nadal. When he was only four years old he practised every kind of sport but tennis was the best one he did. When he was only eight years old he won a official championship in Mallorca. This wasn’t possible without the help of his uncle and his personal work. After a lot of successfully victories he began to rise in his career.

First of all, he won against Albert Costa (one of the top ten) and he won also against his best friend: Carlos Moya, of course another one from the top ten. In 2003 he failed in the third round in Wimbledon. In 2004 Nadal was one of the best players in the championships. He won the Davis coup against Andy Roddick from EE.UU. in a difficult game. The same year had won also his first title in Polonia. At the end of the year he won another tile in Master’s championship in Leon city against Fernando Verdasco without losing any set.

In 2005, Rafael Nadal was the revolution in professional competitions. He won against the number one, the best player in the world, Roger Federer. He won also Roland Garros championship and more competitions such as: Master Series, Grand Slam...

In 2006 he couldn't do a good work due to a stress fracture in his left ankle. However, from 2007 to now we have seen one of the youngest and best players in the world. Nowadays, Rafael Nadal is the number two in the ranking of the ATP (Association of professional players).

Rafael Nadal had a wonderful career in the world of tennis but without his personal work and the help of his uncle his dream couldn’t be possible. All people, we can see how he behaved in the court when he is playing a match. He never surrounded and he always fought until the end of the match.

The last competition that has won Rafa Nadal this year is Monte Carlo´s tournament.

He is an Jamaican-American hip hop musician, songwriter and founding member and frontman of Black Eyed Peas. The genres that define his style are Hip Hop, Dance, R&B, Pop, Urban and Rap. He plays the trumpet, keyboard and clarinet.

Indeed. will.i.am has helped steer The Black Eyed Peas into one of the most popular groups in music. We can see that Will.I.Am is a democrat, with their ideas. They say they want people to choose every single thing, by voting, democracy. We also can see that he wants Obama to be president, so he made this song for that. Actually, we can talk too much about his personality with this song, because all that's said is say by Obama, and even though he supports him, I don't think it's a good idea to talk about his ideologies with this song. Actually, he may have ideas similar to Obama's ones.

Will normally makes songs about girls, so we can suppose that he is a romantic man, or maybe that he likes a lot girls. As well as from his songs, we can suppose other things by reading some sentences said by him, such as, “I didn’t want to come out and say, ‘Hey, I’m a producer and here are all my friends,’” he explains. “I wanted to be my own man and do my own thing and really try out some ideas that have been bubbling in my head.” We can suppose that he is not a show off person, nevertheless he is very bull-headed, when he wants to do something he tries to do it without help.

Her songs talk about when your boyfriend cheats you by going with another girl who is nicer than you, the first love, or about when you break up with your boy or girl friend because she or he is a bad tempered and cold person , all of them talk about those kind of things.

The song that i have chosen show as that she is a little promiscuous but at the same time she doesn't want to hurt him although her boy friend knows that she is unfaithful.

Simple Plan began in 1995 with the formation of a band named Reset by friends Pierre Bouvier, Charles-André "Chuck" Comeau, Philippe Jolicoeur, and Adrian White.

Two years later he met with high school friends Jeff Stinco and Sébastien Lefebvre who were in separate bands of their own, and combined to create the band. At those very moment, Reset was releasing a second CD, No Limits.
The origin of the band's name is obscure. Band members have given various responses on this point, including a liking for the movie A Simple Plan; that the band was their simple plan to avoid getting a "real" job; and that the name was only intended to be temporary, but they never thought of anything better, and with shows coming up for the new band, they needed a name.

In 2002, Simple Plan released their first studio album, No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls which led to the singles, "I'm Just a Kid", "I'd Do Anything", "Addicted", and "Perfect".

Definitely, Simple Plan is one of the best groups ever and so, they've won lots of prizes all over the world as the Teen Choice Awards for the best rock group in 2005.

At their beginning, Simple Plan was a chaotic rock group but, nowadays, they're good musicians who make lyrics expressing all their feelings and and so, young people love them and feel identified with everything they say.

Their songs talk about everything you can imagine: love, lies, friends, society... But this one specially talks about how you try to do everything as well as you can and, suddenly, an unplanned moment or accident breaks your world and your life without caring about what you think and brings you down to a place where you can't do anything and where you sometimes think that all those problems that your family or friends have are because of you, like they were your fault.

Personally, when I listen to this song I remember all those bad moments I have had during my life but I also remember that I've grown up thanks to them and that every bad day has its sunny morning the day after. It's a song that makes you think about everything you have done or not and says, in some way, that you don't have to feel culpable of a problem if you couldn't done anything to solve it.

Technology has been a big revolution for our lifes.

Fistly,we have to admit that technology has helped to do a lot of reseachs in medecine or on some other topics, like the process to do a boat, building a house, ... If technology hadn´t progressed we wouldn´t have in our house things like the microwaver, or the washing machine.

On the one hand it is very useful to make our life more confortable, but we must realise that we depend on it so much and that it is becoming a problem because we use it so solve our problems. But we have to confess that nowadays technology is completely necesary because all has been done by a technological process.

On the other hand it has also its disadvantages. It is a clear result of the global warming that is every day spoken on television. It also can cause cancer, because some machines send some ultrasonic waves that make us got ill.

For example, children spend much time in front on the computer instead of doing their homework. It must be controled because the excess of computer or mobile would be bad for our lifes.

Nowadays, technology is used in every machines, in every simple tools, in absolutely everything. To be honest, I think that it would be impossible for us to live without technology, because everything we use in our life has been made by a technological process.

But technology isn't only used on machines, tools or something like that, technology is also used to investigate some medicines, to solve a lot of common problems, ... and that is a very important progress for our society.

I think that technology is positive, because it helps us having an easier and better life. For example, some simple objects such as telephones, windows, houses... wouldn't exist, and our life would be really different.

But technology also has its negative uses, because several problems could be stopped, for example, the global warming, that has been a consequence of the technology, because if we wouldn't have developed the factories , or the oil, (and many other things), we would pollute less, and these type of problems wouldn't exist.

And technology is such a wide topic, that everybody uses it, from younger to elder people. But I have to say that if we use the technology in excess, we will find a lot of problems, for example, using our cars everyday pollutes a lot, and if we go to school walking, or using public transport, we help the environment.

In conclusion, technology has its positive and its negative uses, but it's necesary for us to live in an easier way.

Nowadays new technology is one of the most important sciences we have in our daily life.

New technology has affected lot of things like economy, education systems, young people hobbies..and work in general.
For example, we are used doing everything with computers: we write letters with our PC's help, we communicate with friends or family who live in other cities or countries so we don't need to pay as much as we would if we talk by phone, we save digital photos, also writers prefer to explain their ideas by computers, not writing them by pen in a single sheet of paper...

I think technology is very important not only because it helps us doing a lot of things but it is very useful too if we want to increase our knowledges.
We can learn lots of interesting things just by clicking our mouse when, in the past, people had to look for them through the biggest books you can imagine...and they also had to know how to read of course.

In conclusion, I generally agree with those who think new techonlogy is good because, anciently, people didn't have the possibility of learn about the world around us and we should make the most of it.

Technology is a consequence of science and engineering. This two have evolutionated a lot in the last years, also, with them, technology has had several changes in few years.

Technology, for normal people, is a way of making their lives easier.
As an example, we can think that we are living in the Roman empire. To send a letter from Bilbao to Cadiz, We may have to take a horse and it would take long to reach the destination. However, now, if you want to send a letter, it reaches the destination in a short period of time because of the fact that it's sent by train, plane and so on. Even you can send an e-mail. Although, Technology isn’t only a way of making our lives easier, it has also added to our daily live new costumes, such as, listening to music or surfing the internet. Customs that aren’t necessary for our daily live but they seem as they do.

So we can realise that technology is a good advance in our society, but, even though it makes our lives easier, saves some people lives or, makes advances in science, it also can be a problem for us. Some radiations can hurt our health for example. But also we can get mad: Some people can't leave without technology; computers, internet, cellular phones... This people normally are reserved , people that don't get in contact with other people if it's not by technology. Also technology cans get out of our control and cans cause different disasters, like huge bombs, or the spillings of petrol into the sea, for example.

Technology is good, but we must take it into our control, use it with control. As we say here, in Spain, “everything in excess is bad”

To begin with, it is necessary to understand the meaning of the title. If you look up the word "technology" in the dictionary, you will find something like this: "a technological process, invention, method, or the like", which probably isn't enough to understand what technology really means. So, let's start from the beginning, which should be the prehistory, but I don't mean that long ago. I want to explain you what is happening with the technology, where does it come from and what is it for.

Technology, as I have said, comes from a long time ago. At first, technology was a way to survive: people built their own houses by using their brains to create objects which could help them built them, they took advantage of a lightning to made fire... But nowadays, technology is part of the science: it helps solving problems, finding medicines against all type of illnesses, repairing mechanical objects...
On the one hand, many people agree that technology safes a lot of lifes. And that's true, because due to the technology in the hospitals, in the laboratories... a lot of people which were nearly dead could safe their lifes. Moreover, the new technology is improving in an endless way, which is perfect, because there are still a lot of illnesses to cure and a lot of problems to solve.

Technology is also a very profitable business. It offers a lot of jobs to people who need it, which is against the unemployment. That's why technology plays an important role in our world. Furthermore, a lot of people are getting rich because of technology and a lot of people is trying to imitate them but just a few success in their lifes by using the internet. For those of you that weren't able to do it, I recommend you to read the next advices and commentaries. You can also read about the richest people in the world connected to technology and there you can understand how they managed to became rich by clicking here.

But, what about the negative aspects of the new technology? What happen with them? I will write about them right now.

First of all, you should know that technology is one of the first topics a country or state talks about when they are in war. Specially because they need every type of weapons: guns, bombs, mines, rifles... As a result, everybody in the world is afraid of technology. If you haven't already understand what I mean, you should read my other post about what happened in Hiroshima in the Second World War. If that's not enough to understand why is technology dangerous for the world, I recommend you to think about it for an hour or more if you need ir, but make sure you realise what I'm talking about.

To sum up, let me say that the new technology is a fascinating thing, you can do what you want if you learn how to control it, but if you don't, you now know what are its consecuences. I should also say that the development, which is connected to technology, is impossible to stop or detain, that you can only postpone what is going to happen. That is why the future is already written, so be aware of the new technology.

Technology has been a big revolution and has affected our society and our surroundings in different ways.

Firstly because it has helped a lot to do researches in medicine which is really important. And cars and means of transport in general have also evolved: they are now safer than years ago which is really positive(there are less accidents). Technology has also affected the economy which has at the same time improved. Then, computers and mobile phones, for example, have also helped to have a better communication between people(friends of other countries,family..).We don't use to think that technology has changed our lives but we cannot imagine our lives without it, can we?

It is difficult to say if technology is a positive or negative thing but we can deduce that if we live better than before and the medicine has evolved (which is, in my opinion, the most important ) it is more positive than negative isn't it? However, nowadays, we depend on it so much that it is becoming a problem because we are going to end up by not to know how to solve our problemas without technology.
Children for example spend too much time on computers and less time in studying or reading.
In addition, cars, planes, industries(which are part of technology) etc.. have helped us to have a better life but at the same time pollute the atmosphere which is a big problem to our earth.
And what about wars? Powerful countries, are using technology to make dangerous guns as the nuclear bomb and this isn't so positive. It is negative!

In conclusion, I can say that the impact of technology on our society has been a positive thing in general but now there is too much technology everywhere and in my opinion it has many desadvantages.

The video is ironical in order to show that with technology we communicate immediately with people everywhere (all around the world) but at the same time, we become anti-social and ignorant of the people in our immediate surroundings even if they are in front of us.

The technoligy has been a very important revolution which has totally change our life. But it is also a consecuence of the increase of pollution in the envairoment.
The technology can be viewed like a way that changes cultures, but it is also the application of maths, science, and arts for the benefit of our life.

A modern example is the rise of communication technology, like the development of the computers and the internet which are fantastics ways of communication between humans.

Sometimes peolple think that technology has not be an important change, but then they can not spend a day without their mobiles phones and their personal computers which is a serious problem not only in childs but also in adults.

It is very difficult to say if the technology has been a good revolution or not, but we should think that if it has improved our life it seems that it is something useful and that we need, isn't it?

The economy has also been affected by the improvement of the technology, which sounds great.

In conclusion i would say that the impact of technology in our society has been a positive thing in general and that it has improve our lifes. But also it has desventages like the pollution on the environment.

A fight between lions and a crocodile

I have chosen this video because I think it is amazing. It impressed me a lot.

Firstly, this video is about nature, especially about a fight between three lions and a crocodile. Without seeing it I had thought that the crocodile would win but I wasn´t right because when I saw the video the crocodile ran away from the lions like a coward.

Secondly, I felt nervous when I saw the crocodile going nearer and nearer to the lions but the lions realised that he was next to them.

Finally, I liked this video but it didn´t say too much about the life of lions or crocodiles or nature. I felt a bit disappointed with it but... it is what exists.

At first sight, technology is good and all the things referring to technology sound better and better. Technology has some pros and cons that I would explain in this composition.

Technology is a new way of doing difficult things in an easier and a faster way than before. For instance, you can search through Internet in few minutes or listen to music while you are going by bus to school and a lot more things you can do with technology. Nevertheless, technology had some bad things. I think that technology distrust us with television or computer, and so on because many people watch TV every day and this isn’t good. TV is one of the several good things that technology has, but if you watch so much it stupefies you. As a consequence some people can’t live without TV, computer... in the end with technology.

Another point is that with new technology the world has improved a lot. Nowadays there are things that 200 years before didn’t exist. At present is easier to live and there are more medicines, food, computers, and etc. so more facilities in work or in school and in hospitals. Technology has remarkable also in scientists because they help in their investigations and these we can see all people in their discoveries with the science.

On the other hand, technology helps a lot in the cinema. Few years ago, special effects didn’t exist or also colour but at present thanks to technology all these things could be possible.

Least but not last, some people uses very bad technology such as the organisations that murder people and those who want a war in the world. Technology in this aspect had created bombs, guns, and so on.

In the end, technology for me is a thing that has changed our life and thanks to this we can live better and have more facilities such as listen to music with I-pod or phone with the self phone, and so on.

It shows you, if it’s true all we say about drinking 2 litres of water a day. In the video a doctor does an experiment with two twins. The doctor is going to measure the skin of both and one week later she is going to measure it again and compare the results. Mumbai Monsoons & Mangroves

I've chosen this video because it has made an impact on me.
It talks about the causes and consequences of the biggest rainstorm that has ever fallen in India. This happened on the 26Th of July, during the season of the monsoons.

It tell us that over a thousand people were drowned, and that the Indian city of dreams, turned in a few minutes to a nightmare.

The main causes of the drownings and floodings are caused, like most of the disasters, by humans.
Years ago, Mumbai was surrendeed by mangroves, a type of plant. These mangroves worked as the city's temperature regulator, and also during the time of the Monsoons, they worked as a sponge.
Though they were very important, Mumbai was and is constantly growing, so buildings spring up all over the place, without any control. This causes that mangroves are being cut down, so, the city is turning hotter and hotter. Also, and not less important, during the monsoons' season, the function of the sponge isn't as effective as it was, because of the fact that now, there are few and fewer mangroves.

I think that technology is a very good thing but, nothing is perfect so I think it has its bad side too.

Technology´s good things are that you can do almost everything easily and faster than you used to without it. For example, if you want to warm something, you just have to put it into the microwave and... there you have it! Your food is warm and you have only waited for it a few minutes.

On the other hand, bad things about technology are that you do it everything so easy that when you have to do anything that is a bit hard you just don´t do it because you´re not accustomed to do anything that costs a bit of effort. But this does not happen many times.

But technological things are not only the electrical machines, but everything that humans beings have made since they were created. So I think that technology is good if you use it correctly but if you use it in a wrong way, it could be dangerous for you and for other people too.

Technology is part of the evolution, in fact, without the technology it couldn't be possible for the human being to evolute.
As a conclusion, I think that technology is good and bad, and this depends on the person who uses it. So, now that you now this (which is only my personal opinion), try to use it correctly so it can make you life better.

Paris is becoming hotter year after year, which is very bad for old people, who fall ill almost inmediately. Global warming is responsible for this heat and in Paris they´re doing their best to repare this situation. One of the alternatives, which I think it´s very original is to put lots of plants in the buildings. The plants refresh the buildings so they don´t need air conditioning in summer because the plants don´t let hot air come in the building.

Hiroshima

I saw three documentaries and all of them were about Hiroshima.

In the first movie, which is embedded, you can feel the fear everybody in Hiroshima felt, you can get angry about what those people (Oppenheimer and the Manhattan project) did, but you won't be able to change the past.

If you want to see it with commentaries, you can click here and see the same but longer film. In this second video, you understand what happened that day and the reason for for doing it.

But that wasn't the end. After the bombing, all there was left in Hiroshima was chaos and debris . In this video you can see what happened to the people after their hometown was destroyed.

But, was that the end? No, it wasn't and the world was getting prepared for the next attempt . In only three seconds, this second bomb killed more than 70, 000 people and more than 80, 000 people suffered diseases caused by radioactivity.

Nowadays, goverments are working on it and trying to avoid another disaster and to protect the world from them.

I have always lived in Bilbao; since I was born...a very long time ago!!
Bilbao its a great big city situated in the north of spainbetween San Sebastian and Santander.

Its got lots of things to do like visiting the great, succesful, big and modern Guggenheim Museum with its new instalations ubicated in the center of this lovely city.(you can see a modern view un the picture of the left).

In these wonderful village there are also some

special and tipycal basque food. the most famous and inernational example of this "delicatesen" is the cod. This kind of fish is used to prepare many dishes. You can make a soft "bacalao al pil-pil" (pi-pil cod) witch is done with a special sauce that makes it delicious. Another way to prepare this comun sea-food is making a "bacalao a la vizcaina" (biscayan cod).

Anyway, we have got exotics "pinchos" (small portions) that marks the difference from other spanish citys. All the turist get surprised when they see lots of smal-portions in any pubs`bar. (you can look in this picture many different kinds of these wonderful food).

Another advantage of thic Cantabrian exotic place is that we have got, as many diferent citys all over the world, a football and a basketball team.

Talking about our basque football team its name is "Athletic" and they play in San Mames stadium. Its nown for its huge space. Bilbaos`s colour is known to be red and white because this team is represented by those colours.

Meditation: an easy solution

To start writing about the meditation topic, first of all we had to do a little research about David Lynch. For those who hasn’t watched any films or has never watched read any article about him (that’s my case), here you have a little summary made by me with the information from Wikipedia:

“Not everybody knows David because of his films, he is also well-known because for his paintings or his photo galleries. Maybe some of you can remember his latest film “INLAND EMPIRE” or the now old fashioned “Lost Highway” and “Twin Peaks” (TV series and a film). All those films are created to make the audience think about it. Most of them are little descriptions of different American states, but all of them are made with his personal style. That’s why some of his films are well-known all over the world and the reason for his wealth.”

As you can see he has already had a long life so that he has made a lot of things but now he wants to do more. That’s why he has created the David Lynch Foundation. This foundation helps students having a more relaxed and calm life. For that, this foundation tries to help them in different ways; one of them is the film he has watched: meditating at school.

I think meditating at school should be imposed in schools. As those students have said their lives have changed a lot, we should also be able to have the same benefits. Having time to meditate would help me to relax a bit and to forget everything related to school. Because of that we will get better marks and not being stressed. I also read some articles from the same website and they are all related to this topic: stress, depression…

To sum up, I think this would be a perfect solution for the problems of a lot of people so our government should try to test this method in some schools and see what happens.

Bilbao is my home town. I have lived here since i was born. I think that´s a beautiful town, so i think i´m not going to move from here.
Bilbao is a place where you can´t get bored.

There are plenty of things to do, for example visit the famous Guggenheim museum or have a good lunch at the famous basque restaurants or go shopping, but there are also other choices.

Sport is also an important thing for Bilbao. Atlhetic is the city football team an it has a special caracteristic; all of the players have either to be born in the Basque country or have basque family. Although the team isn´t very good, several years ago it was the best team of Europe.

On the other hand, the city center called Moyua is also important because there is the shopping area. The most known street of Bilbao is the Gran Via where you can find lots of famous shops, for example, pepe jeans or zara. Zubiarte is also another place where you can go to spend time. Apart from the shops there is also a big cinema and plenty of restaurants where you can eat everything you want. I like zubiarte very much because it´s not very far away from i live, and is an alternaive to go when the weather isn´t very good.

But if you don´t like the city you also have the countryside. Near Bilbao you can find the coast or the mountains. The underground is a good way of public transport to go there because you can find the beaches next to the stations. But if you prefer the mountains gorbea is a good choice too see the wonderful landscape the basque country has.

Bilbao, my hometown

I was born in Bilbao and I still live here so I'm going to speak about one part which I really like and know very well : the old town.

The old town or "Casco Viejo" is one of the most special part of Bilbao because it is the oldest place. We can say that it is the heart of Bilbao and one of the most lively and beautiful places to visit.

There, we can find different shops, historical monuments, some old churches and a cathedral, many charming squares like the "Plaza Nueva" or "Unamuno", and a lot of bars and restaurants. All this, make this place one of the most popular areas of the city.

The "Plaza Nueva", was built in the nineteenth century. It's a neoclassical square and was opened in 1851. It is one of the most interesting and well-known place too.

There is also a very important theatre in the old town called th

e Arriaga. The Arriaga theatre was built in 1799 and rebuilt in 1986, the place where the main plays and events take place, there you can see theatre, ballet, and many other shows.

However, if you don't want to visit museums, theatres, monuments or churches, you can visit some other places like beaches or mountains in the surroundings of the town which are really beautiful and interesting like for example Urdaibai beaches or the highest mountain in Bizkaia: Gorbea.

In Bilbao you will find a great variety of places with different atmospheres.

I think I have mentioned the main interesting places to visit in the old town and surroundings, and I hope it will help you to know my hometown better.

I´m going to write about Bilbao because I have been living in Bilbao for all my life and I considerate my hometown. In this writing of Bilbao I´m going to say positive and negative things of bilbao because it isn´t as perfect as I want.

In bilbao you can do many things, for example going to zubiarte, to the cinema or going by bike by the bicycle´s road. In bilbao there are so many places too. You can visit moyua´s square, the Guggenheim´s museum or you can go to the old quarters at night.

Bilbao is very attractive to many tourists because bilbao has mountains and beaches whereas in other cities of Spain doesn´t happened like in Bilbao, so this can be an adventage to live in bilbao.

At first sight, Bilbao is marbellous and beautiful; however, all the beautiful buildings are in only one part of the city. Bilbao is very clean and there isn´t so much pollution as Barcelona or Madrid.

People of Bilbao use a lot the public transport because is very fast. I think the underground is very useful in these days and it doesn´t pollute. on the other hand, there is the bus but is slowlier. Also we have the tram but I don´t use it a lot.

Well, as lots of people here my hometown is Bilbao.
This city is very famous for its museum but not just for that:

·It also has national artist like Fito & Fitipaldis. This group has

created lots of popular songs all around Spain like "Soldadito marinero" or "Por la boca vive el pez" and he's one of the most famous basque singers here. The main singer, Fito, lives in the centre of Bilbao and so I've seen him a few times where I live. He seems a normal man with his family and his guitar always on his back and I like most of his songs because of what they say.

·Bilbao is famous for his football team too but it isn't very good :)
San Mames is usually open on Sundays when the Athletic Club of Bilbao plays versus another team. When Athletic plays versus Real Sociedad there are always people shouting and fighting in the underground or while they are going to the football pitch so it's better not to go to that football match if that's possible. In my opinion, at the moment the Athletic Club of Bilbao is one of the worst football teams in Spain but thirty years ago more or less they were national champions.

Zubiarte is the best shopping centre in Bilbao. There you can find a lot of shops that are famous all around the world from the cheapest to the most expensive brands and it's one of my favourite places in this city because you can also go with your friends to the cinema or pick up something to eat at its cafetteries (McDonalds, Burger King, Asiatic Restaurant, Krunch...)

In fact, you can find all that you need there and so I remind you to visit that building while you're visiting my city.

I have lived in Bilbao since I was born, so that´s fifteen years living here! I think that Bilbao it´s a great city because it has got lots of amazing things. I´ll show you some of them here.

Every August in Bilbao a festival called "Aste Nagusia"is celebrated. During this week a lot of people come to Bilbao to visit the city in the morning and enjoy the parties at night. People who come one year usually come again the next because the festival is great so, what are you waiting for? Come and see it!

One important thing about Bilbao is its underground. The underground is a very comfortable way of travelling through Bilbao and some villages near it. And it does not pollute the atmosphere!

Bilbao is famous for lots of things, but specially for its team, the Athletic of Bilbao. Although now it´s not the best team in the world, the Athletic has been a very good team during its history and it has never descended from the first division since it was created.

I am going to talk about Bilbao.I've always lived in Bilbao and I consider it my hometown.Bilbao is a city in the north of Spain, and it has got around 400.000 inhabitants. Counting "the greater Bilbao" which includes other villages surrounding it, Bilbao has more than a million inhabitants.
Bilbao is more than 700 years old, although at the begining it was only a little village.

Bilbao is a very nice city with some tourist attractions like the guggenheim museum an other interesting places.It isn't either a big city nor a small one , which I find very comfortable.
There are also some good shopping centres like Zubiarte in the centrte of Bilbao, and also some others outside the city centre.

If you don't like cities there are also some beautiful beaches near Bilbao you can go to by the underground, which is very good because you can go there very easily.

Bilbao, a great city in the north of spain!!! Maybe I say this because I was born here 15 years ago but I have several reasons to say it. I'm going to show you some of them:

If you like cultural tourism Bilbao has a lot of things you to see them. For example, you can visit the Guggenheim museum, or the Old Quarters.

Then you can have a break and eat the typical northern spanish food(great meat, fresh fish, also good vegetables, spanish omelette...)

And, actually, at nights Bilbao is also a very live city, you can go to different places to have a good time, like shopping centers or even in Bilbao's streets.

Nevertheless, if you want to take a relax, you can also come an stay in a "caserio" in the mountain or spend some nights in a small beach camping.

Bilbao also is very well communicated with different means of transport, like the tram or the underground, one of the bests of Spain.

This is my home town, the city where I was born, and where I still live.

In this city is very difficult to get bored, because in Bilbao you can visit museums, practise different sports, get knowing new people, and many other things.

Although the Guggenheim museum is the most known place in Bilbao, it isn't the only one, because for example, you can also visit other museums, go to the Zubiarte shopping centre, enjoy different sports like football in the San Mames stadium, go to the Arriaga theatre, and do many other different activities.

But what I like most about Bilbao, is the night, because at night, is easier to meet people, and is what us, the young people prefer. there are some different areas to go at night.

Young people usually go to the Old Part of Bilbao, because the discos and the pubs are for this kind of people. but there is another area that is very famous, it is called Mazarredo, but this place is for older people.

But the night in Bilbao isn't everything. The place I like most is San Mames, it's the football pitch. The team that plays there is the Athletic Club of Bilbao.

It's my favourite team, and that's why I like so much this place.

And a very important form of public transport for Bilbao, it's the Underground, because it's the most useful public transport in this city, and it is also very clean. And it is also cheap, a travel on it, it only costs 60 cents. I hope You like Bilbao, a great city.

Algorta - Getxo

First of all, I'm going to write about my hometown. I was born in Basurto, but my hometown is Algorta, which is part of Getxo. I've lived here since I was taken home from the hospital, so, that's my reason for saying I'm from Algorta taking into account that in the registry it's written I'm from Bilbao.

One of the best things about Getxo is that it is located on the coast. For that reason, it has a lot of beautiful and fantastic places, all of them consist in ten kilometres of cliffs, beaches...
"The Pride of Bilbao" sails from just in front of Getxo. Until one year ago, the rest of the passenger ships moored in Santurtzi but now they've built a new part in the "Puerto Deportivo", so that every week one or two incredible ferries moor in Getxo. Unai Basurko's "Pakea" was also in there until two weeks ago when he went to take part in a championship.

My favourite place of Algorta is the old port. There, Getxo townhall usually prepares different activities or festivals. In August, for example, the "Old Port fiesta" is well-known in all Bizkaia. There, on the little beach, young people play "Sokamuturra" with a bull around them, they play football with a bull...

In Getxo you can also go for a walk to Galea and Aixerrota, you can visit the Aquarium, you can revive the war by visiting the fort or the trench which are all around the rockies, the hanging bridge which was destroyed during the war and rebuilt... So, that's why there are lots of things to do and what in Getxo.

To sum up, Getxo is my favourite town, and here you have, a short photo summary:

It's a long time since I have lived in Leicester, I moved away when I was seventeen. Then I thought it a very boring place, not particularly big or small, just boring. However, now I think differently. There is a great cultural mix in the city with many people second, third and fourth generation immigrants.

You can eat the best Indian food anywhere in Leicester. There are shops where you can buy material for saris, ingredients for Jamaican dishes and whole streets where Kenyan jewellers display their wares.

The university is also an important place where students and teachers are engaged in research about space.

And if you are in search of history, you will find some of the most important Roman remains in the whole of Europe.
